Hello TOEFL Family 💙
Welcome to November — one of the most beautiful and meaningful months of the year. Here in the United States, it’s a season of gratitude, reflection, and change. As the natural landscape transforms, many of us are also evolving — in our studies, careers, and personal growth.
This week, I want to share a few important updates, learning tips, and encouragement as we move through this month together. 🌿
🧭 Important Update for Pharmacists
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NAPB) will be meeting on November 12–13 to discuss the future of the TOEFL requirement for pharmacists applying through FPGEC.
This discussion could impact many professionals who have been diligently preparing to meet TOEFL score requirements for years.
If you’re a repeat test taker who has missed your score by just a point or two, I encourage you to reach out directly to the NAPB. When more students and professionals speak up, it brings attention to how these standards affect real people’s futures.
Remember — this journey is about more than an exam. It’s about your persistence, passion, and purpose. 💪🏽
📘 Reading Challenges & Morphology Skills
Many of you have mentioned how challenging the Reading section feels lately. You’re right — TOEFL reading passages now include more C1 and C2-level vocabulary, which requires higher comprehension skills.
But don’t worry — it’s not about memorizing every topic. What truly helps is developing critical thinking and learning to recognize morphology — prefixes, roots, and suffixes.
🧩 When you identify even part of a word, you can usually guess its meaning, which helps you stay calm and connected while reading. This turns reading into a strategy — not a guessing game.
🎧 Listening Tip for TOEFL Success
If your Listening score is under 21, here’s something that can really help:
🎯 Instead of taking full-length practice tests, try breaking your listening into smaller focused exercises. 1️⃣ Go to a TPO or practice test site. 2️⃣ Choose one lecture or conversation. 3️⃣ Look at the questions first to see what kind of information you’ll need. 4️⃣ Then, while you listen, notice how the lecturer refers to key points. Try to catch that information before you see the answer choices.
It’s not just about hearing — it’s about predicting, connecting, and focusing.
💼 Expanding My Work on LinkedIn
I’m also happy to share that I’m now active on LinkedIn, where I’ll be posting Business English tips, communication strategies, and insights for international professionals.
As the TOEFL test evolves, my teaching is evolving too. I’ll be offering fewer 1:1 classes and focusing more on group sessions to reach more students — while also dedicating time to my corporate and organizational clients.
But no matter how my work grows, please know this:
I am always here for my TOEFL students. Always. 💙
💡 Mindset for Repeat Test Takers
If you’ve taken the TOEFL more than once, I want to leave you with this reframe:
Instead of saying “I can’t do this,” try saying — 💭 “I am developing the skills to overcome this difficult hurdle.”
Every attempt, every study session, and every pause for rest counts. This isn’t just about passing — it’s about becoming who you’re meant to be through the process. 🌿
